Before you use the planner
Submitting a plan sends your contact information, measurements and project choices to the Mill Creek Carpet & Tile – Moore team. The displayed range is based on unverified customer information and broad assumptions. It may omit work that cannot be identified without an onsite review, and the verified project price may fall outside the range.

Your project type determines the measurement instructions, assumptions and choices used to build the planning range.
The planner is designed to include
A broad finish-material allowance, standard supporting materials, installation and only the project options you select.
It does not automatically account for
Hidden damage, unusual preparation, structural or plumbing work, complex layouts, unavailable products, permit requirements or conditions that require an onsite review.
Tile Floor or Backsplash
Choose a floor, backsplash or other tiled wall and enter each measured area.
How to measure
- Choose whether the tile is for a floor, backsplash or another tiled wall.
- Measure the length and width of each separate floor area. For a wall, measure its width and tile height.
- Break irregular spaces into simple rectangles and enter each area separately.
- Enter the exact measurements without adding waste; the planner applies a fixed 8% allowance.
- Note existing tile that needs removal and whether any tile side is 15 inches or longer.
Tile Shower
Measure every tiled wall and the shower floor.
How to measure
- Count every wall that will receive tile and measure each wall's width and height.
- Measure the shower floor length and width separately.
- Note the size and location of niches, benches, curbs, ceilings and openings.
- Record the tile style, color, size and square feet per case when known.
- The planning range does not include plumbing work or shower glass.
Carpet
Enter each room, hall, closet and stair count.
How to measure
- Measure every room wall-to-wall in feet and inches. Treat each room as one complete shape.
- On your sketch, show length from front to back and width from side to side. Include halls, closets and every carpeted area.
- Show which rooms touch through a doorway. Count stairs individually and record the carpeted width of each stair.
- Enter the exact measurements. The calculator applies its own measuring allowance and layout rules.
- For odd-shaped rooms, draw the angled walls. Curved areas may be squared off.
Luxury Vinyl Plank
Enter each floor area and product case coverage when known.
How to measure
- Measure the length and width of each room, hall, closet and separate floor area.
- Break irregular spaces into simple rectangles on your sketch, then label each section.
- Use wall-to-wall measurements and do not add your own waste percentage.
- If known, have the product style, color and square feet per case available.
- Note stairs, transitions, uneven floors, moisture concerns and areas where flooring changes.
Hardwood
Enter each floor area and product case coverage when known.
How to measure
- Measure the length and width of each room, hall, closet and separate floor area.
- Break irregular spaces into simple rectangles on your sketch, then label each section.
- Use wall-to-wall measurements and do not add your own waste percentage.
- If known, have the product style, color and square feet per case available.
- Note stairs, transitions, subfloor conditions and whether you expect a glue-down or floating installation.
Countertops
Enter total square feet, thickness, material level, cutouts, 4-inch backsplash and demolition.
How to measure
- Enter the total countertop square footage. If you only have dimensions, multiply each section’s length by depth in feet and add the sections together.
- Choose 2 cm or 3 cm material thickness, then select Good, Better or Best for the planning allowance.
- Count kitchen sink, vanity sink and cooktop cutouts separately.
- Measure any 4-inch backsplash along the wall in linear feet.
- Choose laminate/Formica or stone only when existing countertops need demolition and removal.
